Call for Papers
The Dutch HCI Chapter (CHI NL) is excited to announce the first national Student Research Competition (SRC), inspired by the ACM SRC. This competition offers students the opportunity to showcase their research, gain experience with the peer review process, and connect with the Dutch HCI community.
Important dates
- Submission deadline: December 19, 2025
- Review deadline: January 15, 2026
- Notification of results: January 22, 2026
- Presentation of top 3 submissions: at the next CHI NL event (date TBA)
Who can submit?
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students enrolled in Dutch universities or universities of applied sciences with an interest in Human–Computer Interaction.
- Submissions can be individual or team-based.
- The first author must be a student (BSc, MSc, PhD) or have completed their degree not more than 6-month before the submission deadline.
Submission format
- Papers must use the ACM Master Article Submission Templates (single column).
- Maximum length: 5 pages excluding references.
- Submissions should describe original research in any HCI-related domain—BSc, MSc, or PhD projects are a good fit for this venue.
- The submitted work can be work-in-progress or completed work.
- Reformatted thesis submissions are welcome.
- Work selected for presentation can still be published in other venues. The work is not archived or published.
- We will close submissions in the unlikely event of surpassing 60 submissions.
Review process
- Each student author will be assigned to review 5 submissions.
- Reviews will use the ACM SRC criteria (maximum score 30):
- Problem and motivation: 5 points
- Background and related work: 5 points
- Approach and uniqueness: 10 points
- Results and contribution: 10 points
- In addition to scoring, reviewers provide a short written comment for each criterion.
- Reviews are due January 15, 2026.

FAQ
Q: Will the submitted papers be published anywhere?
A: No. Only the top three submissions will be presented. The other submission will receive feedback from peers in a competitive format.
Q: How far along does my work need to be to be reviewed?
A: The aim of the CHI NL SRC is for you to receive feedback on your work in a competitive format. Work in progress is acceptable and will be reviewed.
Q: Are there any costs attached to the submission?
A: No, you can submit your work free of charge. You are asked, however, to dedicate time to review up to 5 submissons.
